My name is Melissa Jimenez and I am the Director and Owner of De Colores Child Development Center, LLC. 

I am a wife and mother of 4 beautiful children—Alessandra 21, Isabella 12, Sophia 12, and Isaac 3. 

I began childcare in my licensed home regulated by the state of Texas Child Care Licensing in 2011. I graduated from Del Mar College with my degree in Early Childhood. I am currently a student at the University of Clear Lake Houston to acquire my degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a major in Early Childhood Education-Educator of Young Children, B.A.S.

In 2021, after the pandemic I opened a small childcare center on Ayers Street just a block away from Shoreline Hospital for 24 children. Less than a year later I opened a second location on Corona Drive. I eventually closed the first center and helped a friend take over the lease to the first center. We have been open at our new location on Corona Drive since April 2022 and we love it!

The name De Colores comes from three events in my life. When I was little and attended HeadStart in Laredo and we would always sing the song De Colores and I always loved the song. My father’s family had a Zapateria (shoe store) called De Colores Salazar when I was a little girl.  In 2017, I attended a Women’s Journey (JTD #143-Best Journey Ever!)  and we sang the song De Colores. It was then, that I decided to name my childcare home De Colores Child Development Home Center and then remove the home when I opened the center. 

I have loved, learned, struggled, enjoyed, and embraced my journey in childcare and hope for better things to come for my community!

Mi nombre es Melissa Jimenez y soy la directora y duena de De Colores Child Development Center, LLC. 

Mi esposo y yo tenemos cuatro hijos---Alessandra de 21 anos, Isabella de 12 anos, Sophia de 11 anos, e Isaac de 3 anos. 

Empeze cudiando ninos en mi casa regulada por el estado de Texas. Me gradue de el colegio Del Mar en Corpus Christi con my certificado de Tecnico superior en educacion preescolar. Estoy tomando clases en la Universidad de Houston Clear Lake para seguir my bachillerato en estudios interdisciplinarios en primera infancia. 

En 2021, despues de la pandemia abri una guarderia chica de 24 ninos localizada en la calle Ayers a una cuada del Hospital Shoreline. En menos de un ano abri mi segunda guarderia en la called Corona en April 2022. Nos encanta el nuevo local. 

En nombre De Colores viene de 3 eventos en mi vida. Cuando era chica y atendia el Head Start en Laredo, cantabamos la cancion "De Colores".

La familia de mi papa, tenia una zapateria en Mexico llamada "De Colores Salazar". Y en el 2017 atendi un retiro de mujeres en Corpus Christi, llamado Journey to Damascus (JTD #143-Best Journey Ever) y cantamos la cancion "De Colores". Fue en ese momento que decidi llamarle a mi guarderia el nombre De Colores Child Development Center. 

Durante mi tiempo he amado, aprendido, luchado, disfrutado, abrazado mi viaje en el cuidado de ninos y espero seguirle dando los servicios a nuestra comunidad. 

Espero que puedas confiar en nosotros para el cuidado de tu hijo(s) como muchos padres han puesto la confianza en mi y en nuestra guarderia.
